En la lección sobre el uso del gerundio en inglés, hemos mencionado la existencia de verbos y adjetivos seguidos de una preposición obligatoria. Saber qué preposición va detrás de cada uno de estos verbos y adjetivos no es previsible - es necesario memorizar las diferentes combinaciones de verbos o adjetivos con preposiciones. Por este motivo, es importante trabajar con el diccionario y también intentar reciclar estas expresiones para mantenerlas presentes en la memoria.
I’m interested in visiting Japan. // He succeeded in passing the exam.

Verbo + preposición + gerundio:
I believe in discussing things openly with the employees.
I’m thinking of renting a country house this summer.
He insisted on telling me the truth.
I don’t feel like cooking tonight.
He complained about not getting paid enough.
Verbo + complemento de objeto directo +preposición + gerundio:
He accused him of wasting the company’s money.
Thank you for being such a loyal friend.
I would like to congratulate you on winning the competition.
Adjetivo + preposición + gerundio:
Jane is fond of painting.
Terry is good at gardening.
I’m tired of studying.
I’m capable of solving this problem by myself.
